The Art of Wedding Photojournalism
Corey Torpie — Bringing documentary storytelling to the wedding day
Early bird until 2 September

Il percorso
This workshop explores how to bring the principles of documentary photography to the modern wedding day. In a world saturated with scripted, filtered and overly perfected imagery, the ability to truly observe is what sets meaningful work apart.
Together we'll strengthen your instinct for anticipation and refine how you approach the wedding day as a documentarian, creating images that feel honest, intentional and deeply resonant for your couples. We'll also look at how to cultivate a documentary mindset in the way you communicate with clients and set expectations from the very beginning.
Over three sessions the workshop moves from foundations to craft to business. You'll leave with a sharper eye, a clearer method, and a way of working that holds up across the whole arc of the wedding day.
The three days
Foundations
Welcome & introductions, workshop goals and expectations, what is wedding photojournalism, group discussion and image review.
Creative
Building a story through images, light + composition in real situations, flash as a storytelling tool, hands-on flash practice.
Business
Client communication and building trust, building your documentary portfolio, the art of the edit, portfolio editing in groups.
What you'll gain
A documentary eye
The ability to truly observe and read a scene, not just react to it.
Anticipation, not luck
Instinct for reading moments before they happen, so you stop missing them.
Storytelling structure
A way to build a coherent narrative across the whole arc of the day.
Light and flash as tools
Confidence with light and composition in real conditions, using flash to tell a story rather than fix a problem.

A portfolio that holds up
Clear editing and retouching criteria to build a body of work that reflects your vision.
Domande frequenti
- Is this workshop right for me?
- It's made for photographers who shoot weddings and want to build a documentary eye — whether you're just starting out or have been working for years and want to bring intention back into how you see.
- Will we shoot during the workshop?
- No. You won't be shooting, but Corey will demonstrate her own approach live, especially when it comes to handling light and using flash.
- Do I need to bring my own work?
- Yes. We'll ask you to send a documentary image you care about in advance, so it can be projected and discussed together during the creative day.
- Is this an open conference or an intimate workshop?
- An intimate workshop. We believe in small groups, so you can fully follow Corey and we can create the right environment for learning.
